july 2006 we have enjoyed a superior room (321) with our two children in the lovely hotel de las Letras ( with view of the Gran Via) Situated perfect in the middle of town, beautiful, spacious rooms, high cealings, 2 flatscreen televisions, beautiful bathroom and lovely bed. Our room also had a balcony, sheltered with glass but because of the busy Gran Via we did not use it ( noise) If you keep your doors closed then you have no sound bother at all. The only negative thing was the fact that the hotel has no parking space for their guests´cars. We had to park in a public parkinglot ( 5 minutes away) There are several busses stopping in front of the hotel, the metrostation is at 250 meters. Other then that, the hotel has a perfect breakfast. For us, it´s the best address in Madrid. Be sure to ask for a room with a view cause there are a couple of standard rooms that have no windows and therefore are very dark ( my parents in law had one of those and weren´t as enthousiastic as we are.)
